Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a private GP consultation?
We offer 15-minute and 30-minute GP consultations, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your needs.
Some concerns may only require a brief consultation, while others may benefit from more time for a detailed discussion with your GP.
If you require a translator during your consultation, we will allocate a 30-minute appointment to allow additional time for communication and ensure you can fully discuss your health concerns with your doctor.
Our doctors take time to review your information, carefully document your care, and arrange any necessary next steps to ensure you receive a complete and personalised healthcare experience.
What can I discuss during my appointment?
Your appointment is a dedicated time to discuss your health concerns, symptoms, questions, or any aspect of your wellbeing that you would like support with. Within your allocated appointment time, you are welcome to speak openly with your doctor about whatever is important to you.
Our consultations are available in 15-minute and 30-minute appointments, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your needs. A longer appointment provides more time for a more detailed discussion or to explore more complex concerns.
To help us provide safe, thorough, and personalised care for every patient, we generally ask that appointments focus on one main health concern at a time. If you have multiple concerns you would like to discuss, you are welcome to book additional appointments so each issue receives the attention it deserves.
All consultations are completely confidential, and our doctors follow strict doctor–patient confidentiality guidelines, ensuring you have a safe and private space to discuss your health.
Can I get a prescription during my consultation?
Yes. If your GP feels that a prescription is clinically appropriate, they can issue one during your consultation.
Our doctors will always take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history, and individual circumstances before recommending any treatment.
In some situations, certain medications may not be suitable to prescribe within a private consultation, and your GP may advise you to speak with your NHS GP or another specialist for further support. This ensures you receive the safest and most appropriate care for your needs.
Can you refer me to a specialist?
Yes. If your GP feels that a specialist opinion would be beneficial, they can provide a referral to a private specialist and help guide you through the next steps in your care.
As Novix Health is a private healthcare service, we are able to arrange private referrals to specialists of your choice. However, we are unable to make referrals into the NHS system. If an NHS referral is required, your doctor may advise you to speak with your NHS GP, who can support you with this process.
Our team will always aim to provide clear guidance and ensure you know the most appropriate options available for your healthcare needs.
Do I need to be registered with Novix Health?
No. You do not need to be registered with Novix Health to book an appointment and access our private healthcare services.
For your first appointment, we will simply collect some basic information from you before your consultation so our GP can understand your needs and provide safe, personalised care.
Once your details have been completed, you can access our services whenever you need support from our healthcare team
Can I book a same-day appointment?
Yes. We offer same-day GP appointments for patients who need timely access to medical advice and support.
Same-day appointments may be available depending on doctor availability and are subject to an additional fee.
If you need to be seen sooner, our team will do their best to help you find the most suitable appointment option.
Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes, we do offer virtual consultations
Can I use my private health insurance?
This depends on the service you are booking and the clinician or specialist you are seeing. Some consultations and treatments may be covered by your private health insurance, while others may not.
We are continually expanding our partnerships with private medical insurance providers and are actively onboarding more of our clinicians to work with a wider range of insurers.
If you are planning to use your health insurance, we recommend contacting our team before booking. We’ll be happy to advise you on your cover and let you know whether your chosen appointment is eligible.
Will my NHS GP be informed?
Only if you would like them to be. Your consultation with Novix Health is completely confidential, and we will only share information with your NHS GP if you ask us to.
If you would like your NHS GP to have a record of your consultation, we can send them a summary of your appointment to help support your ongoing care.
